Active solar energy refers to the electrical generation of power from the sun’s radiant light. Electricity is produced through the conversion of this light by using photovoltaics, solar thermal collectors, or other various experimental technologies. The key components of solar cells are the semiconductor, the semiconductor junction, and the contacts that allow current to flow to the external circuit. 93% of the current market employs crystalline silicon solar cells, while the remaining 7% use thin film solar cell technology. The average crystalline silicon solar module has an efficiency of 15%, while the thin film solar cell gets about 6% efficiency.
